Purpose
The primary purpose of International Theological Seminary (ITS)
is to provide education and training to ministers, Bible teachers and
Christian workers. This task is achieved with a positive commitment
and belief that the Bible is God's infallible Word. As such, it is
trustworthy, authoritative and sufficient.
General Information
ITS is a non-profit, Evangelical, Inter-denominational Bible Institute
specializing in Theological and Ministerial training. The Institute is
authorized by the Florida State Department of Independent Colleges and
Universities to operate and issue degrees.
It was established in 1982 on
the belief that an education is a valuable asset to help individuals find
direction, perceive opportunities, adjust to life and make a contribution to
society. The educational program offered is holistic in its approach to life
and corroborates the inherent values of the intellectual, social, physical
and spiritual aspects of development.
ITS provides educational
opportunities to people who want to experience further education. It provides
Biblical training to ministers and Christian lay people who desire to serve
their churches and communities as preachers, teachers and religious leaders.
Educational Objectives
- Provide a nontraditional educational setting through which basic
learning tools are made available so students may fulfill their
educational desires and objectives.
- To help students assess their educational needs and satisfy them
through a core of studies in a Biblical Education.
- To give people the opportunity to study the meaning of Biblical
information and to understand historical Christian interpretations
of religious literature.
- To offer a self-paced learning experience giving students an
opportunity to develop a personal commitment to Jesus Christ
as Lord and sensitivity to the ethical and social demands of our
time.
- To inform and make available to students the learning resources
and media support required to maximize their learning and retention
of acquired knowledge.
- To provide communicative skills to qualify students to preach the Gospel.
- To evaluate the student’s proficiency in relationship to standards
of performance acceptable to other nontraditional and traditional
educational enterprises.
- To prepare students for Christian service in their church and community.
We believe the Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of the living
God. The Bible is the final authority on all matters of life,
faith and practice. The maxim of biblical interpretation is Scripture
interprets Scripture. We and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the
deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the virgin birth, in His sinless
life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through
His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to
the right hand of the Father and in His personal, soon, return
in power and glory. We believe that salvation is an act of God's
saving grace by the work of the Holy Spirit in regenerating and
converting the hearts of men by His free gift of saving faith.
We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, the eternal
damnation in a literal hell for the wicked, and everlasting life
with the living God for the righteous. We believe that there
is but one head of the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, and that
it is the responsibility of the Church and its institutions to
maintain His Lordship over their activities and not submit that
right to any individual, corporate body, governmental agency or
head of state. We believe that every area of life is to be subject
to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
We adhere to a world and life view that seeks to make the Lord
Jesus Christ preeminent in all things.
Additional Information
ITS has issued hundreds of degrees to students representing
many church bodies. Our External students are from various US states,
countries and denominations, including extension centers
in the United States, the Philippines and South Africa. All degrees
can be earned by combining Life experiences, traditional studies
(some of which are provided on campus at ITS in Bradenton, Florida)
and transfer credits from other institutions of higher learning.
We have appointed an International Studies Dean to assist overseas
students and a Dean to the Military. Campus Classes are on a fall
and spring semester schedule.
